WWWhatsup Victorian Pins

Pinback buttons were first manufactured around 1894 by Whitehead and Hoag of Newark NJ, who patented the process. The original pins were of actresses and were given away with chewing gum (I believe). In Edwardian times pins of military heroes were sold in large quantities to raise funds for war efforts.
